The Gungans' actions in battle in themselves form a pretty ineffectual comedy of errors made worse by the slapstick of Jar Jar as he desperately attempts not to screw everything up. For all Padme’s protestations to the contrary (which gets the Gungans onside), they win the battle by accident (only because the simultaneous space battle is won with Anakin destroying the Neomodian mothership). Whilst the Ewoks are lauded for their cleverness and bravery though, the Gungans by contrast feel denigrated by the Naboo and the emphasis is on them proving that they are not backward and inferior. This in itself gives a rounded feel to the first six movies with each battle being chronologically the first and last of the first six films. The primitive nature of the ground battle on Naboo combined with the comic moments of course echoes the battle on Endor in The Return of the Jedi.

If the stakes are going to rise with each subsequent movie then you have to start somewhere and the battle reflects the fact that the Galaxy is still a much more lighthearted place than it will later become as Papatine's machinations start to unfold. That said, this is in many ways the whole point of this battle. Add to this the comic moments on both sides and its easy to feel let down. The battle on Naboo is probably the Star Wars battle with the least gravitas of all the films and sometimes it can be hard to take it seriously, since neither the Gungans nor the Trade Federation Battle Droids are formidable opponents and the battle is deliberately primitive in nature. The gun racks in the back compartments are a nice touch and Battle Droid blasters clip in there really well and much better than weapons fit into most other Star Wars weapon racks.

There's a plentiful amount of nodes for standing figures on both of the rear compartments which means that along with the front Droid dispenser you can really carry a convincingly large battalion of Battle Droids in this vehicle. With the droid deployment unit extended the Multi Troop Transport measures 75 centimetres (about 29 inches long). I don’t have the 20 (yes 20) battle droids which came packed with this beast, but I'm still incredibly pleased to own it.įind Trade Federation MTT Multi Troop Transport on eBay Aside from the issue of scale the Multi Troop Transport is rather magnificent. The Trade Federation MTT Multi Troop Transport is an absolute giant of a Star Wars vehicle, so be warned if you don't have the space it's probably not such a good idea to get hold of one of these.
